TPU
TPU
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) is a versatile elastomer with a unique combination of properties, making it suitable for various industrial and consumer applications
TPU Material Properties
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Mechanical | High elasticity (300–700% elongation), excellent abrasion/tear resistance, Shore hardness 60A–85D. |
| Thermal | Service range: -40°C to +120°C; melts at ~120–200°C (grade-dependent). |
| Chemical Resistance | Resists oils (polyester TPU), water/hydrolysis (polyether TPU), but swells in ketones/esters. |
| Electrical | Good insulator (dielectric strength ~20–30 kV/mm). |
| Optical/Surface | Transparent grades available; UV-resistant (with additives). |
| Processing | Easily molded, extruded, or 3D-printed; recyclable (limited cycles). |
| Biocompatibility | Medical grades meet ISO 10993 for implants/tubing. |
Common Applications:
Footwear : (shoe soles, midsoles)
Automotive : (seals, gaskets, hoses)
Industrial : (belts, rollers, seals)
Medical : (catheters, tubing, prosthetics)
Consumer goods : (phone cases, watch bands)
3D printing : (flexible parts)
