Injection Molding Process | Custom TPU Nylon POM Molded Parts-TOPSEALS

As a professional manufacturer of rubber and plastic components, TOPSEALS delivers high-precision injection-molded sealing and structural parts using TPU, nylon, POM and other engineering-grade polymers. Our in-house injection molding workshop supports low-volume prototype and mass-production orders for OEM & industrial end-users, with full material traceability, dimensional inspection and process documentation to meet industrial quality requirements.

What Is Injection Molding for Rubber-Plastic Industrial Components

Injection molding is a high-volume manufacturing method that melts granular polymer raw materials, injects molten material into precision machined molds under controlled pressure, and cools to form net-shape finished parts. This process is widely adopted for complex-geometry sealing elements, wear-resistant spacers, support blocks and custom non-standard gaskets. Compared with compression molding or CNC machining, injection molding excels on consistent repeatability, tight tolerance control and cost efficiency for batch production.

Main Raw Materials We Use for Injection Molding

TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)

TPU balances high elasticity, abrasion resistance, oil resistance and moderate hardness adjustability. Molded TPU components perform well under dynamic load, impact and cyclic friction. Typical outputs include flexible bumpers, anti-wear seals, damping pads and buffer components. Suitable for pneumatic equipment, automation machinery and robot auxiliary parts.

Nylon (PA Polyamide)

Nylon features outstanding mechanical strength, tensile property and wear performance. Modified-grade nylon can be reinforced with glass fiber for higher rigidity and heat-deformation resistance. Our injection-molded nylon parts are used for guide sleeves, support rings, positioning blocks and structural inserts inside sealing assemblies. Note: nylon absorbs moisture; we strictly follow material drying procedures before molding to avoid bubble, shrinkage and surface defect risks.

POM (Polyoxymethylene / Acetal)

POM provides low friction coefficient, excellent dimensional stability and good chemical resistance. It is ideal for precision moving plastic parts requiring stable size after long-term running. Common molded POM products: wear rings, limit sleeves, valve components and anti-friction auxiliary parts within hydraulic-pneumatic systems. TOPSEALS selects suitable POM grades to reduce molding-caused warpage via mold-flow optimization.

Other Available Engineering Plastics

We also process PP, PE, PC and blended modified plastics according to customer drawings or sample requirements. Each incoming batch undergoes material inspection before entering production workflow.

Our TOPSEALS Injection Molding Workflow (Practical Production Steps)

  1. Project review: Confirm drawing tolerances, working conditions, material grade, hardness and surface requirements from OEM customers.
  2. Mold development or customer-provided mold acceptance: Check mold cavity, gate position and cooling channel to prevent warpage, sink mark and incomplete filling.
  3. Raw-material pre-treatment: Dry hygroscopic polymers such as nylon strictly following material datasheet parameters.
  4. Injection parameter setup: Tune melt temperature, injection pressure, holding pressure and cooling time based on material characteristics.
  5. Sample trial-out: First-article inspection covering dimension, appearance and visual defect check; adjust parameters if non-conformity appears.
  6. Mass production: Periodic in-process dimension sampling to secure batch-to-batch consistency.
  7. Post-processing & quality check: Deburr, remove sprue, full-range inspection, batch record filing before shipment.

Key Defect Prevention for TPU / Nylon / POM Injection-Molded Parts

Based on years of sealing-part manufacturing experience, common failures and corresponding process control measures are summarized for reference by design and procurement engineers:

  • Shrinkage & sink marks (POM & Nylon): Optimize holding pressure and cooling cycle; adjust gate size; avoid over-thick local wall thickness in part design.
  • Bubbles & voids (Nylon): Mandatory drying procedure; prevent moisture intake before injection.
  • Warpage: Balance mold temperature distribution; optimize ejection position; adjust material filling sequence.
  • Poor surface of TPU: Control melt temperature range; avoid material degradation caused by over-heating.

Typical Application Scenarios for Our Injection-Molded Components

Our injection-molded TPU, nylon and POM parts are widely supplied for industrial automation, pneumatic & hydraulic equipment, robot accessories, valve assemblies, general machinery and custom sealing systems. We accept custom-made according to customer drawings or physical samples, including non-standard special-shape parts.
