Rubber Molded Parts: Custom Elastomer Seals Made by Compression Molding

For design engineers specifying reliable elastomer sealing components, rubber molded parts manufactured by compression molding are the trusted solution for harsh operating environments. TOPSEALS produces custom molded rubber seals, O-rings, gaskets and special profiles from FKM, EPDM, NBR, Silicone and HNBR elastomer compounds. Compression molding is ideal for low-to-medium batch sizes, large cross-section seals and high-performance rubber grades that are difficult to process via injection molding.

Compression Molding Production Process

Compression molding starts with cutting uncured rubber preforms to calculated volume. The rubber blank is placed into a heated steel mold cavity. The mold closes under high pressure, forcing the elastomer to flow and fully fill the cavity. Controlled heat and pressure trigger vulcanization to cure the rubber. After the preset curing cycle completes, molded rubber parts are ejected, trimmed and inspected. Our team optimizes venting, mold temperature and curing time to eliminate trapped air, which is the main cause of internal porosity and surface blisters that engineers often encounter in rubber seals.

Key Advantages of Compression Molded Rubber Parts

Compression molding delivers unique benefits for sealing design. It supports thick cross-sections and large diameter seals without incomplete curing. Compared with injection molding, mold tooling cost is lower for custom or low-volume projects. The process preserves the original physical properties of high-performance elastomers such as FKM, avoiding shear degradation during material injection. We strictly control flash on sealing parting lines, preventing leak paths and seal failure under pressure. Our DFM guidance helps engineers choose proper parting line placement and draft angles to reduce scrap and stabilize dimensional consistency.

Industry Applications & Engineer Pain Points Solved

Our compression molded rubber components serve hydraulic machinery, automotive assemblies, chemical pipelines and heavy construction equipment. Engineers frequently face issues including seal blisters, hidden voids, excess flash, inconsistent hardness and compression set failure. TOPSEALS addresses these common challenges by tuning compound formulation, adding mold vacuum venting and validating curing parameters before mass production. Whether you need oil-resistant NBR gaskets, high-temperature FKM seals or weather-resistant EPDM profiles, we validate material compatibility with your working media and pressure conditions.

Before manufacturing, our polymer engineers review your drawings, material specs and operating conditions. We provide DFM recommendations to optimize part geometry, tolerance selection and parting line layout, reducing field leakage risks and total project cost. We support prototypes, small batches and non-standard custom rubber profiles.
